It may not seem like a big deal what kind of lounge sofas are in the waiting room or what kind of chair the receptionist has, but it really has a lasting effect in both visiting and working at a hospital. Whether doctor or patient, comfort is key especially in such a high stress environment. There are a few things you should take note of when looking for the right hospital furniture.
Comfort is of course the most important. You want patients to feel comfortable in an otherwise uncomfortable situation, and you want your employees to be comfortable enough to deal with long shifts sitting in the same seat. Executive desk chairs are a great choice for receptionists and doctors alike and are usually softly cushioned.
Durability is also important. There’s going to be a ton of people coming and going and using your hospital furniture and it’s going to have to hold up to hundreds of people a day.
Always make sure you have enough seating as well. The last thing anyone wants is to show up at the ER and find there isn’t a seat for them to rest in, whether they are waiting to be seen or nervously waiting on someone else. Consider your space, as you don’t want to overcrowd the waiting room either which will cause congestion and stress.
