Executive Desk Chairs: Tips for Good Meetings

Let’s face it, too often, meetings are unproductive affairs. You enter the conference room and take a seat on one of the comfortable executive desk chairs, wishing you were back at your desk, actually getting some work done.

Meetings should only be called if there’s a good reason to meet and discuss an issue, and they should always start and end on time. A little chit chat at the start of the meeting is okay, and it can be important for team building, but it’s not useful if it drags on.

One of the most important aspects of any meeting is the agenda. Have an agenda, and stick to it to ensure the meeting addresses the group’s most important issues. If possible, circulate the meeting agenda in advance and ask the attendees to come to the meeting  prepared to comment on and discuss certain items.

Standard team meetings should not be opportunities to doze off in executive desk chairs. Sure, it’s important that everyone realizes the importance of filing and putting files back in their place, but such discussions should be kept concise. Meetings should stay focused, and should always end with “action items” that everyone is clear on.
